Red Dead Redemption 2 Paradise Mercifully Departed Walkthrough

November 12, 2018 by Jack McBastard 2 Comments

Paradise Mercifully Departed is the 62nd main story mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Paradise Mercifully Departed Main Quest including all Gold Medals for 100% completion.

Paradise Mercifully Departed starts automatically after completing Hell Hath No Fury.

Quest Giver: N/A
Chapter: 5
Region: Guarma

Gold Medal Requirements:

  • Kill the first 2 sentries without being spotted
  • Escort the captain to the boat within 1 minute 45 seconds
  • Complete within 6 minutes 45 seconds
  • Get 25 headshots

Starting Location: Guarma

Follow Hercule

  • GOLD MEDAL: Complete within 6 minutes 45 seconds

Looks like your escape plans have hit a hitch, since Colonel Fussar has your ship’s captain held prisoner, and raised gun positions ready to open fire on you if you try to leave. Looks like Guarma isn’t done with you yet. Hercule leads you up the hill. When you reach the first position, you and Micah will sneak up behind them.

  • GOLD MEDAL: Kill the first 2 sentries without being spotted

Perform a stealth kill on the first one and Micah will take out the second.

Plant explosives on the artillery, then run!

Stealth will be off the table now. Time is of the essence. Be sure to kill the snipers early to avoid being hit while behind cover.

  • GOLD MEDAL: Get 25 headshots

Keep advancing to the next cannon, getting headshots along the way.

Micah will rig the second set of cannons, leaving you free to keep moving. Follow Dutch to the top of the hill and get into cover. There will be a lot of soldiers coming through the fields to the northeast.

Once they’ve all been taken care of, wait for Micah to finish setting the explosives then follow him up the hill to the workers’ compound. Once everyone is there, Dutch will go on your mark. Tagging as many headshots in Dead Eye as possible, open the first salvo and everyone will follow you.

Press forward until you reach the blue building where the captain is being held.

You’ll get jumped by a guard who was hiding behind the door, but before he can end your life Dutch will come in to trigger a standoff.

Suddenly Fussar will come in, making the situation even more precarious. Look to the left and right until you can look down to the captain.

Kick the gun to the captain and watch the fun unfold.

Fussar will dive out the window and the captain will be saved. Now you just have to get him back to the boat… on a brand new time limit.

  • GOLD MEDAL: Escort the captain to the boat within 1 minute 45 seconds

Along the way, you will encounter reinforcements which you will have to kill as quickly as you can. The captain won’t advance until the coast is clear each time.

Eventually you will catch up with Hercule who will tell you that Fussar is up in the tower manning the last artillery piece.

Even though it looks like you should be able to snipe him, the only way to kill Fussar is to man the cannon on the left side of the area and shoot him with it.

One shot will be all it takes to complete the mission and finally free Guarma.

This finishes Paradise Mercifully Departed main mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. Now the next quest Dear Uncle Tacitus starts.

You can actually snipe fussar with your rifle. Just Aim near the Cannon up on the tower and you should be able to see the red dot. It’s also far faster than shooting him with the Cannon. I’ve done it 5 times now

Also don’t keep looking to the left and right when rescuing the captain try looking to one side and on the ground. This way the captain will get up sooner and allowing you to trigger the cut scene a fews secs sooner.
