In Red Dead Redemption 2 your weapons will deteriorate over time. Therefore it’s important you repair and clean your weapons regularly, which this guide will show you how to do. As your weapon’s condition drops it will do less damage, be less accurate, shoot slower and take longer to reload. Weapons can never break but they become much weaker if not repaired.
How to repair weapon:
- Open the weapon wheel, check the weapon condition status
- In weapon wheel, hover over the weapon you want to repair and press the Right Stick (R3)
- Your character now looks at the gun. Select CLEAN. This consumes 1 x Gun Oil.
You can repair weapons anywhere, any time. Just keep in mind you need Gun Oil to do this! Without Gun Oil in your inventory it won’t work. Gun Oil can be bought from gunsmiths in all major towns. It’s found under the “Accessories” in the gunsmith catalogue and usually costs $1,50 a piece. For example, the gunsmith in the town “Valentine” sells it. See the map location below:
Weapon Conditions
Weapon condition is affected by usage of the weapon but also environmental factors (dirt and rust). This will lead to lower damage, slower cocking, and longer reloads.
That’s all there is to know on how to repair your weapon in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). For more guides check out our full Red Dead Redemption 2 Wiki & Strategy Guide.
