GTA V (Grand Theft Auto 5) contains 50 Letter Scraps Locations. Finding all of them unlocks A Mystery, Solved trophy & achievement, and they are required for 100% Completion. The letter scraps can be collected at any time after completing the mission “Franklin and Lamar”. The letter scraps look like small, glowing rectangular pieces of paper. Some require the use of a helicopter, which will be indicated in the list below. You can get one from the roof of the Central Los Santos hospital helipad or the roof of the Davis Sheriff’s Station. If a helicopter doesn’t spawn, go down to the street and up to the helipad again, or try saving a distance away then reloading your save right away.
After finding all 50 letter scraps you must go to the green “Killer” question mark while playing as Franklin. There you will meet Leonora Johnson’s killer (Dreyfuss). You must kill him in order to unlock the trophy or achievement! Only collecting the 50 letters won’t be enough, you must finish this side mission!

Letter Scrap #17

This letter scrap will require some work to get. It’s on a platform at the very top of a crane that is nearly as tall as the Maze Bank building, and in order to get to it you’ll have to climb a ladder from the ground floor. It will take long enough that you will start to think “Snake Eater” will start playing at any moment. Start on the north side of the construction site to find the first ladder.

Start on the north side of the construction site to find the bottom of the ladder.

Worse yet, the ladder will be in sections requiring you to run around a catwalk and grab the next ladder. Over and over again. So you can’t even just hold up on the controller while you do something else, you have to pay attention.

Once you reach the top, you’ll have to climb another couple of ladders to reach the uppermost platform where the page is. Hopefully you have a parachute on you, otherwise now you’ll have to climb back down.

This letter scrap is underground in a train tunnel, so you’ll start a bit further back from the collectible.

Head up the tunnel, keeping in mind that trains run on the left side of the tracks, so coming towards you they’ll be on the right as you enter. There are warning lights that will flash as one approaches, and of course there will be the rumbling noise of the train itself. Trains can spawn in both directions, but you won’t see two at the same time so there will always be a safe side to stand on. The collectible is a little ways up on the left, on an inset platform with some crates and electrical panels.

Letter Scrap #22

This collectible is on top of a block of stacked shipping containers. Start on the west side of the marked block. Climb up on top of the second level of cans, then jump across to the can in the second row.

From there, jump up to the cans on the left or right and you’ll see the collectible in the next row ahead of you. You’ll have to jump diagonally to land on the can.
