Driller is the 66th main mission chain in GTA V (Grand Theft Auto 5). This walkthrough shows how to get all Gold Medals in Driller for 100% completion.
NOTE: This is a heist prep mission for the Obvious Approach on “The Big Score“. If you choose the Subtle Approach, you will not have access to this mission.

Steal the Driller
You’re working against the clock, so skip the cutscenes!
- Mission Time: Complete within 05:00
Shortly after leaving the planning session at the Vanilla Unicorn, Lester will text you with the details of a tunnel bore machine that he needs you to steal for the mission. Use your Interaction menu to set a waypoint, then head to the location.
Your time will begin once Michael sets foot on the lot where the driller is being kept. It’s also worth mentioning the other Gold Medal requirement before you start your approach:
- Sneak Thief: Steal the Cutter without being detected
Again, I subscribe to the “can’t detect you if you’re dead” philosophy, which will save us a lot of time. Avoid the guard at the gate by climbing up onto the building beside the loading docks, using the electrical box by the sidewalk as a stepping stone.
Pull out your suppressed sniper rifle and kill the gate guard, then climb up on the roof to the east.
In the distance to the east, you’ll see a guard standing in the gate on the other side of the yard. Kill him, then line up a two-for-one shot on the two workers next to the trailer below you. Wait for the other worker to move past them a fair distance, so that he doesn’t detect the kill.
When the moving worker is clear, kill the two workers, then the moving worker for slowing you down.
There’s another worker hanging around the shelter next to the trailer who you can snipe.
And finally one working near the pipes at the bottom of the electrical tower. You can hit him from here, or shoot him from the ground. Head back the way you came onto the first roof, jump down onto the sloped eaves beside the ledge, then onto the ground.
Go quietly around the corner to the east, and shoot the worker standing near the door.
Then run towards the truck, stopping to snipe the remaining worker against the north wall who had been obscured from your view from the roof.
Now with all witnesses dead, get in the truck.
Get the Driller Out of the Yard
An easy objective now that there’s no one to stop you. Once you’re on the street, Michael will call Lester with the good news, and he will tell you where to stash the digger.
Go to the Parking Lot
Head to the objective marker as quickly as you can, given the trucks lack of speed, but avoid getting any kind of wanted level which will blow any chance of meeting your time limit. Park the truck on the objective marker, then get out to end the mission.
This finishes Driller in GTA V.
