The Civil Border Patrol is a Strangers and Freaks Mission (Side Quest) in GTA V (Grand Theft Auto 5). This walkthrough shows how to get all Gold Medals in The Civil Border Patrol for 100% completion.

- Mariachi My Ride: Steal the band’s Tornado after stunning them
- Stop the Music: Stop the band within 00:40

Go to the Suspects
Meet up with Joe and Josef as they peer into an abandoned van. These two fine upstanding idiots are the Minute Men, and they’ll take you on a mission of ignorance across the desert with zero authority or self-awareness. Deputizing Trevor on the spot, the Minute Men race to apprehend suspects at the Yellow Jack Inn. Follow the objective marker to the bar.
Head inside and Janet will helpfully remind you that you’re banned. Look around the bar and the pool room to find nothing, and Trevor will comment that the search is useless since everyone has done something illegal.
Get in the Patrol Vehicle
As you head back outside, Joe will yell that the “undesirables” are getting away, and you’ll see a beat up Tornado pulling out of the parking lot.
Stop the Band’s Car
If you move quickly, you can shoot out their Tires before they leave the parking lot to make your job easy. Otherwise you’ll have to hop back into Joe’s misappropriated Park Ranger truck and shoot their tires on the run. Either way, you’ll have limited time to act in order to get the first Gold Medal requirement:
- Stop the Music: Stop the band within 00:40
As soon as one of their tires is shot out, they will stop and get out of the car.
Use the Stun Gun on the Mariachi
Switch to the Stun Gun that Joe gave you and subdue the unsuspecting band members.
Once both are on the ground, Joe says that he’ll be able to handle things from there. As Joe and Josef put their victims in the truck, hop into the abandoned Tornado and drive away for the remaining Gold Medal requirement:
