Bury the Hatchet is the 53rd main story mission in GTA V (Grand Theft Auto 5). This walkthrough shows how to get all Gold Medals in Bury the Hatchet for 100% completion.
Gold Medal Requirements:
- Mission Time: Complete within 11:00
- Headshots: Kill 20 enemies with a headshot
- Accuracy: Finish with a shooting accuracy of at least 80%

Go to Los Santos International Airport
You’re working against the clock, so skip the cutscenes!
- Mission Time: Complete within 11:00
He knows. Trevor is headed back to North Yankton to blow the lid off Michael’s big lie. He’s stolen your car, so grab another from your garage or carjack one and head for LSIA. Park on the objective marker.
Go to the Second Level Terminal Entrance
Cross the street and head upstairs towards the objective marker. Skip the cinematic.
Go to Ludendorf Cemetery
Go to the objective marker while Michael’s mind echoes with conversations of the past.
Go to Your Grave
Head up the path left of the church and back towards the objective marker in the cemetery. Skip the cinematic with Trevor.
Get in the Car
In a colossal misunderstanding, Mr. Cheng sends his goons to kill Trevor, but they end up shooting at Michael thinking that he’s Trevor’s boyfriend. Not sure which is worse, but remember the Gold Medal requirements as you return fire:
- Headshots: Kill 20 enemies with a headshot
- Accuracy: Finish with a shooting accuracy of at least 80%
Kill the two goons who charge you, then go down the stairs and take cover behind a tomb on the level below.
There are four guys in the van, and three more which come up the path from the road. Use Michael’s special ability to be precise, prioritizing accuracy since you need so many Headshots for the Gold Medal requirement. You can get headshots on all four guys in the van before they can shoot back if you’re quick enough, but make sure you only get headshots.
A short time later a second van will pull up on the right (east) side of the cemetery and drop two more guys off just behind the church, then another six goons will charge up the path towards you. Stay behind cover and take them out with headshots as they climb the stairs, but don’t lose sight of the goons on the right who will try to flank you as they approach.
Advance when it is safe, heading back in the direction of your car. When you approach the church, five more enemies will pop up on the road and head for the cemetery entrance. If they’re hanging back, move up to the next piece of cover and try to get a better angle on them.
Once you are certain that you have 20 headshots, and it is safe to do so, make a run for your car in the parking lot. Once you’re in the car, a cinematic will play showing Michael being captured by Mr. Cheng’s thugs. Skip the cinematic to end the mission.
