Stingers is the 66th main mission chain in GTA V (Grand Theft Auto 5). This walkthrough shows how to get all Gold Medals in Stingers for 100% completion.
NOTE: This is a heist prep mission for the Subtle Approach on “The Big Score“. If you choose the Obvious Approach, you will not have access to this mission.

- Escapee: Steal the Police Transporter and escape within 02:00
- Not a Scratch: Deliver the Police Transporter with no damage

Steal the Police Van
Shortly after you leave the Vanilla Unicorn you will receive a text from Lester that tells you about a LSPD van with spike strips (AKA Stingers) at the South LS Police Station. Use your Quick GPS in the Interaction menu to put up a waypoint for you, and head to that location. Pull up to the curb before you are in sight of the two cops near the doors.
As soon as you pull up, the clock will start on the first Gold Medal requirement:
- Escapee: Steal the Police Transporter and escape within 02:00
Run down the path next to the walled in stairs until you reach the end, then turn left to go through a tunnel that leads under the stairs.
At the end of the tunnel is the alley next to the police station where two cops are talking by the doors. If you run across the alley, there is a chance that they may hear you and you’ll get a wanted level. Instead play it safe and cross the alley carefully using stealth mode, then climb over the chain link gateway on the other side.
Run down the path at the back of the building, but slow down before you reach the corner. There’s an L-shaped alley towards the northeast between the police station and a small outbuilding, where a cop is on the phone talking. Again, you might get away with running past but there’s a chance that they might hear you. Play it safe again and walk past the alley. You’ll come out in the parking lot next to the transporter van that you’re looking for.
Hop in the van and drive towards the gates which will slowly open for you as you approach.
A good time to keep the remaining Gold Medal requirement in mind:
- Not a Scratch: Deliver the Police Transporter with no damage
Take the van just down the street to the Vanilla Unicorn, where you’ll store the van out back. Also you may want to ignore the given path which winds its way through some potentially close calls, and instead just take the alley right behind the Vanilla Unicorn which gives a straight shot to the objective marker. Park on the marker and get out to end the mission.
