BZ Gas Grenades is the 12th main mission chain in GTA V (Grand Theft Auto 5). This walkthrough shows how to get all Gold Medals in BZ Gas Grenades for 100% completion.
NOTE: This is a heist prep mission for the Smart Approach on “The Jewel Store Job”. If you choose the Loud Approach, you will not have access to this mission.

Steal the Humane Van or Its Cargo
During the heist prep for the Smart Approach of “The Jewel Store Job”, Michael will receive a text from Lester with the location of a knockout gas shipment headed to the airport. The truck will not always spawn in the same location, and it will be on the move so use the Quick GPS option in your Interaction Menu to keep updating the waypoint as you approach the vehicle. When you reach it, remember that there’s a specific method of obtaining the gas grenades needed for the Gold Medal requirement:
- Loose Cargo: Shoot open the back doors to release the cargo
Pull up behind the Humane van, and aim your drive-by weapon at the center of the doors at the back. This is easier with a shotgun or assault rifle, but even using a pistol will do the trick in four or five shots. The second it starts getting hit with weapons fire it will begin to accelerate so it’s better to make your shots count. Eventually the door will pop open and three cases of the grenades will fall onto the highway.
Steal a Case of BZ Grenades
Stop your car, get out and grab the grenades. Be careful of other drivers behind you though, since they have been panicked by your gunfire they won’t hesitate to run you over in their haste to escape.
Lose the Cops
You will earn a one star wanted level for firing a gun, so lose your pursuit before heading back to Lester’s factory.
Drop Off the BZ Grenades at the Garment Factory
Go inside the factory, up the stairs, and drop the grenades in the room next to Lester’s office to conclude the mission.
NOTE: If this is your first time completing this mission and you have already completed “Bugstars Equipment”, then you will automatically begin “The Jewel Store Job (Smart Approach)”.
