Father/Son is the 6th main story mission in GTA V (Grand Theft Auto 5). This walkthrough shows how to get all Gold Medals in Father/Son for 100% completion.

- Quick Catch: Rescue Jimmy within 00:10
- Not a Scratch: Deliver Amanda’s car with no damage

Go to Pacific Bluffs
Just as Franklin and Michael are headed out to get a beer, Michael gets a call from his son Jimmy who has been “kidnapped” and now you have to rescue him. Get in Amanda’s car and follow the objective marker towards the Western Highway. Just as you reach it, you’ll see a truck fly through the intersection hauling your yacht with Jimmy hiding on board. Turn left and chase after it!
Get Franklin Close to the Yacht
The truck is really moving fast, so you will have to drive aggressively to keep up. Don’t worry about damage to Amanda’s car at this point as it will be repaired later in the mission, just close the distance with the truck so Franklin can jump up and board the ship.
There will be two goons on board the ship that Franklin will have to deal with. The first Franklin can deal with on his own, but you can also shoot him to speed things along.
Shoot the Thief
The second one has a gun though, and you’ll have to shoot him to save Franklin’s life.
Chase the Yacht
At this point Franklin will find Jimmy, and you’ll have to get ready to move to the left of the yacht to complete the first Gold Medal requirement:
- Quick Catch: Rescue Jimmy within 00:10
The clock will start when the yacht’s boom swings out, carrying Jimmy with it to hang in midair.
Catch Jimmy
Quickly drive to the left of the yacht and match speed with it while maintaining position under Jimmy so that he can drop in safely. Use the yellow marker on the road as a guide. Meanwhile two more guys will come up on deck and attack Franklin, so you’d better hurry!
Catch Franklin
Once Jimmy is in the car, pull up behind the yacht and hold steady so that Franklin can jump back onto your hood. As he climbs over the windshield, you’ll notice that your engine is starting to smoke and lose power.
Go to Los Santos Customs
Follow the new objective marker to Los Santos Customs where Michael is so angry that he hands Franklin a wad of bills to fix the car and storms off.
Get Amanda’s Car Repaired
You’ll automatically switch to controlling Franklin. Drive the car into Los Santos Customs and get it repaired for free. Then back out of the menu, and from this point onward you will be working towards the remaining Gold Medal requirement:
- Not a Scratch: Deliver Amanda’s car with no damage
Go to Michael’s House
Carefully drive Jimmy back to Michael’s house, making sure that Amanda’s freshly repaired car takes no damage. There’s no time limit so you don’t have to rush, but don’t be afraid to use Franklin’s special ability if you get into trouble. Follow the objective marker to the house safely to complete the mission.
This finishes Father/Son in GTA V.
