August 1, 2026 by Jack McBastard Leave a Comment

Minor Turbulence is the 44th main story mission in GTA V (Grand Theft Auto 5). This walkthrough shows how to get all Gold Medals in Minor Turbulence for 100% completion.

Gold Medal Requirements:

  • Accuracy: Finish with a shooting accuracy of at least 80%
  • Four Wheel Flier: Exit the cargo plane in the Mesa

Starting Location: Minor Turbulence

  • Location: Rockford Hills / Portola Drive / Michael’s House
  • Quest Giver: Michael’s Empty House
  • Requirement: Complete “Caida Libre“
  • Can Be Started By: Franklin

Get in the Plane

Though this mission is started by Franklin by going up to Michael’s home, it actually a mission for Trevor who is still laying low due to the fallout surrounding the kidnapping of Patricia Madrazo. In the meantime, Ron tells him about a big Merryweather arms shipment coming in and Trevor cooks up a plan. Head to McKenzie field and hop into a crop duster that has seen better days.

Fly to the Cargo Plane

Taking off from McKenzie, you have a long and roundabout path that you’ll have to follow before you can approach the Merryweather plane. For now, you’ll head to the south towards the Zancudo River. Ron advises you that you will have to fly low to avoid Fort Zancudo’s air traffic monitoring.

Follow the Cargo Plane, Staying Close to the Ground

Roughly about the time you reach the edge of the Alamo Sea, you’ll catch sight of the plane in the distance. Follow it, staying low above the river.

Once you reach the ocean, bank to the north and follow the coastline around Fort Zancudo, continuing to stay low.

Eventually you’ll reach Paleto Bay and you’ll have to go a little higher over the trees on the way in, but drop back down again to skim the buildings and then follow the railroad tracks around the mountain.

About the time you’re near the Braddock Tunnel, Ron will tell you that you’re out of the monitored area and you’re free to climb.

Fly Close to the Rear of the Cargo Plane

Gain some altitude and head for the plane. Once you’re close enough, you’ll be challenged and told to change course. Trevor has other ideas.

Fly Inside the Cargo Plane

Now labeled as a hostile aircraft, the cargo plane lowers its back ramp and two Merryweather soldiers start shooting at you. One with an assault rifle, the other with an RPG. Generally speaking their aim is poor, but occasionally they get a lucky shot in. Aim for the back door and drive the plane in, careful not to hit the ramp or any other part of the plane on approach.

Take Out the Guards

Sanitize the plane’s interior of Merryweather guards, watching for sliding vehicles barreling at you as you progress. Stick to cover when possible, then use Trevor’s special ability to advance, remembering the first Gold Medal requirement:

  • Accuracy: Finish with a shooting accuracy of at least 80%

There are eight Merryweather soliders to kill, plus the pilot at the top of the ladder. Once everyone else is dead, Trevor will take over the plane.

Fly the Cargo Plane Back to McKenzie Field

Turn and start flying towards McKenzie, even though there’s no way a plane of that size could land on its short strip. Suddenly Trevor is intercepted by a fighter escort and they seem keen on either getting their plane back or blowing it out of the sky. Trevor can try to take evasive maneuvers but that’s just delaying the inevitable.

The fighters launch missiles and Trevor is forced to ditch the plane in the Alamo Sea.

Jump from the Plane

Don’t forget on your way out that you still have one Gold Medal requirement to fulfill:

  • Four Wheel Flier: Exit the cargo plane in the Mesa

As soon as you’re back on foot, look to the left to see that there is one Mesa that hasn’t been sucked out of the cargo hold. Hop in right away, and accelerate out of the cargo doors.

Parachute to Safety

Once you’ve left the plane, you can safely ditch the Mesa and pull your ripcord. The mission will end as soon as you land safely.

This finishes Minor Turbulence in GTA V.

For all other Missions refer to GTA V Walkthrough.

This walkthrough has been updated for the Enhanced Version on PC / PS5 / PS4 / Xbox Series S/X and is also still applicable to the Legacy version.
