Gold Medal Requirements:
- Get 10 kills while dual wielding sidearms
- Get 15 headshots
- Complete the mission without taking any health items
Starting Location: Pronghorn Ranch, West Elizabeth
Talk to David Geddes
Talk with David Geddes briefly before going home. After you turn in for the night, you’re woken up by more gunfire. Running out in your long underwear, you find that the ranch is on fire and Tom Dickens is being assaulted by two Laramie boys. Follow the waypoint to find him by the stalls.
- GOLD MEDAL: Complete the mission without taking any health items
If you approach the fight from the angle shown below, you can fight them one at a time by keeping the first fighter between you and the second fighter so he can’t reach you. Block first then return with a three hit combo. Continue till both are down.
Geddes runs out saying that they’ve stolen his cattle and killed a hand. He needs your help to recover them, and he’s past the point of indulging your pretenses of being just a ranch hand.
Marston gears up and rides out with the men to Hanging Dog Ranch. Take time during the ride to select the sidearms and long weapons of your choice from the wheel.
Ride to the waypoint, and get off your horse in the yellow objective area.
While the other hands flank the ranch, you hail them at a distance to distract their attention. Don’t get too close however, or you’ll automatically enter combat. A gunfight is inevitable, but the last thing you want is for it to happen while you’re way out in the open.
- GOLD MEDAL: Get 10 kills while dual wielding sidearms
- GOLD MEDAL: Get 15 headshots
When combat kicks off, be sure to dual wield your guns immediately. Use Dead Eye to make the job easier. There are about twenty enemies and you need fifteen headshots, so the margin for error is relatively low. When all the targets are dead, enter the barn to find the leader, only to be ambushed and driven to the ground.
Once you beat the hell out of him, he continues to bad mouth you until you shut him up for good. Get back on your horse and ride home to end the mission.
