A Traitor Within is a side mission in Borderlands 4 (BL4). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of A Traitor Within Side Quest.
- Starting Location: Carcadia Burn > Ruined Sumplands > Carcadia Faction Town
- Quest Giver: Levaine
- Unlock Requirement: Finished Side Missions Enter the Electi Part 1 > Enter the Electi Part 2 > The Council Divided
- Reward: XP, Money, Shotgun (Blue or Purple rarity), Eridium, Cosmetic: ECHO-4 Paintjob (Middle Name “Danger”)
- Quest Description: Trust is a bit of an issue within the Electi. If you find the mole, maybe you can change that.

- Pick up ripper ECHO log

Starting Location: A Traitor Within
This mission starts by talking to Levaine in the same spot as the previous mission The Council Divided. She stands near the vending machines in Carcadia town.
Note: sometimes she can glitch through the floor, in which case fast travel away, reboot the game and she should respawn correctly.
This mission contains a lot of big fights. Make sure you are sufficiently leveled. If enemies show a red skull icon it’s better to come back later after leveling up.
Collect thresher eggs (x4)
You are sent to find thresher eggs. Follow the quest marker to the west of Ruined Sumplands. There you will find a group of threshers. Each of them will drop an egg, kill any 4 to collect these.
Gather pangolin spit
Directly next to the threshers you will find the objective marker to a group of pangolin. Kill any 3 and collect the quest items they drop.
Kill Order attackers
An Order spaceship will immediately appear. One of the Electi leaders betrayed you and called The Order to take you out.
Drop off food
Deliver the food in Moxxi’s bar, you can fast travel there if you went there before. You place it on the bar’s front counter where a green item outline is, across from the vending machines.
Reach boneyard
Travel to the quest marker in the west of Tonnage Peel. There you encounter a group of rippers.
Kill the rippers
Clear out the boneyard. It’s a big fight with many enemies.
Pick up ripper ECHO log
One of the stronger rippers at the end will have dropped an ECHO log on the floor. It will be highlighted by the blue quest icon, pick it up and listen to it.
Enter cave
Go into the cave at the end of the boneyard ripper camp.
Kill creatures
Kill the kratch near the cave entrance.
Explore cave
A drone will appear straight ahead above the cliff. Grapple it to jump up. Scan with 
/ Z (PC) to have the location line guide you through the cave.
When you reach gaps between the cliffs, you must wait for the little flying drone to move into place, then use it to jump over the cliffs.
At the very end of the cave drop down and you’ll find out who the traitor is. An ambush awaits here.
Defeat Order
Kill everyone in the cave. This is one of the longest and hardest fights in the game, be well prepared. Especially the Brute Electi at the end has a lot of health and deals heavy damage. If you’re underleveld and enemies show a red skull icon, it’s better to come back later after leveling up and switch to easy difficulty in the session settings (I was level 40).
Reach cockpit
Use the little flying drone above the north exit of the room to grapple up. From there enter the next room where Levaine waits.
Search cockpit
To the immediate right of where you entered the room (the south-west corner), there’s a console with a green highlighted key sticking out. Approach it to advance.
Activate interface
Then pull the switch on the console in the middle of the room, directly across from the previous console.
Shoot Willem’s node
A hologram will appear in front of the console, depicting blue balls and a red triangle. Shoot the red triangle repeatedly until it’s destroyed.
Line up nodes / Shoot Willem’s nodes
Stand next to Levaine in the north-west corner of the room, then look at the 3 triangle holograms so they form a line and overlap each other. Their shapes must overlap. From this angle while they’re aligned you must shoot them once.
Line up Willem’s nodes again
Repeat this a second time, stand in front of Levaine to align the red triangle with the smaller one.
Get to higher position / Shoot Willem’s last node
Climb up the boxes in the south corner of the room, from there you can shoot the last node.
Take drive / Give drive to Levaine
Now take the drive from the computer console to the right of where you entered the room. Give it to Levaine. The mission ends here.
This finishes A Traitor Within side mission in Borderlands 4 and unlocks the next mission The Mole’s Gambit.
