Borderlands 4 The Kairos Job Side Mission Walkthrough

The Kairos Job is a side mission in Borderlands 4 (BL4). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the The Kairos Job Side Quest.

• Starting Location: The Fadefields > The Howl > The Launchpad
• Quest Giver: Shim
• Unlock Requirement: Finished Main Mission 5: One Fell Swoop
• Reward: SMG, Money, XP, Eridium, Cosmetic: Weapon Skin (Smiley)
• Quest Description: The take’s just sitting there, waiting for the right crew.

Starting Location: The Kairos Job

Given by Shim who stands in the town square of The Launchpad (faction town). Available after Main Mission 5: One Fell Swoop. He’s looking for an “entrepreneur” (by which he means a thief) and thinks you’re the one he needs.

Take walk with Shim

Walk with Shim behind the house. It’s a short walk and only takes a few seconds.

You must then talk to him again and he will offer two new side missions – Scoundrel Roundup: Kilo & Scoundrel Roundup: Glitch.

Recruit Kilo

Refer to Scoundrel Roundup: Kilo Side Mission.

Recruit Glitch

Refer to Scoundrel Roundup: Glitch Side Mission.

Return to Shim

Fast travel back to Shim at The Launchpad. Kilo and Glitch will now be there with him. Go close to Shim and wait for him to finish talking, then interact with him to talk again.

Go over plan

Follow Shim and the gang into the house. Wait for them to finish talking, takes a minute.

Rendezvous with crew

The next quest marker is in Hungering Plain to the north-east. There you find a wooden house. Jump up to the balcony on the front of the house that’s facing the street. There you will find your gang.

Take electro charges from Glitch

Glitch will hand you an item, take it.

Get on warehouse roof

To reach the roof, go to the cliffs slightly east of the big building. From there you can glide over to the roof of the building. It will have an objective marker on the map and the location line will guide you there.

Kill order warehouse guards

First, defeat all of the enemies on the roof.

Place electro charges on arrays

You must place the charges on the 4 antennas around the roof. They all look the same and when you approach them there will be a blue marker on them and a green outline where to place the charges.

1. On the south-east corner of the roof, near the cliff from where you glided over.
   
2. On the south-west corner of the roof.
   
3. On the north-west corner of the roof, on the upper roof. Go up the golden tubes to reach it, or use the grappling point below it.
   
4. On the north-east corner of the roof, on the upper roof. Follow the other golden tube that goes sideways across the roof to reach it, or use the grappling point below it.
   

Find door controls

On the west side of the roof, where a golden force field is, approach the door controls. They look like the buttons and levers you had to pull while recruiting Kilo. You must interact with them in a specific order again.

1. MELEE the RED BUTTON
2. PULL the LEFT LEVER
3. FLIP the RIGHT SWITCH
4. PULL the LEFT LEVER
5. SHOOT the PANEL
6. MELEE the RED BUTTON
7. SHOOT the PANEL
8. MELEE the RED BUTTON
9. PULL the LEFT LEVER
10. MELEE the RED BUTTON
11. FLIP the RIGHT SWITCH
12. PULL the LEFT LEVER
13. SHOOT the PANEL
14. FLIP the RIGHT SWITCH

If done correctly, the door will open. Then your gang comes through the door. After some talking, more enemies appear.

Kill Order security guards

Defeat all enemies.

Meet with the crew

Go back to your gang, where you opened the door.

Shoot bomb

Shoot the bomb that your gang placed on the floor where they were standing.

Infiltrate warehouse

Drop through the bomb hole.

Wait for crew

Just wait for them to follow you and finish talking, takes a minute.

Turn off power relays / Kill Order security guards

You can do this objective in two ways: disables the 3 switches around the area without touching any red lasers. Or simply walk into a red laser to trigger the objective “Kill Order security guards”. Then simply defeat the enemies and you won’t have to deal with the lasers and switches anymore, the lasers will automatically be disabled afterward and your team appears at the safe upstairs. How you solve it is up to you.

Find the right spot

Melee attack all the blue marked spots around the big safe.

Kill fire suppression forces

Defeat the next wave of enemies.

Kill Order security forces

Another wave of enemies to kill.

Pick up drone rockets

Pick up the rockets that the drone enemies dropped. They will be somewhere around the room, depending on where you killed the drones. They look like big silver rockets with a blue outline.

Attach drone rockets to safe

Put the rockets on the side of the safe. There will be a green outline where to place them.

Tell Glitch to launch safe

Talk to Glitch downstairs in front of the safe. He will activate the rockets to fly the safe through the ceiling.

Travel to safe’s new location

The safe will have landed far away, in Carcadia Burn > Lopside region. It’s a 2km drive. If you’ve unlocked nearby safehouses you can fast travel to shorten the way. When you approach the location, the objective automatically updates and more enemies spawn.

Kill Order security forces

Defeat the enemies at the objective location in the yellow search radius.

Open safe

Interact with the front door of the safe. After the gang expresses their excitement of the loot, the mission will complete.

This finishes The Kairos Job side mission in Borderlands 4 and unlocks the next mission Free for the TASKing.
