Sum of His Parts is a side mission in Borderlands 4 (BL4). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Sum of His Parts Side Quest.
- Starting Location: The Fadefields > Idolator’s Noose
- Quest Giver: Claptrap
- Unlock Requirement: Finished Side Mission No Place Like Home
- Reward: XP, Money, Shield (Green or Purple rarity), Cosmetic: ECHO-4 Paintjob (Bargain Hunter), Eridium
- Quest Description: Claptrap’s all broken up over something. Again.

Starting Location: Sum of His Parts
Sum of His Parts can be started in the south-west of Idolator’s Noose after Side Mission No Place Like Home. The mission marker will be on a dumpster, open the dumpster to find Claptrap’s lens inside, talk to him. He needs help finding his “body” parts again. This is the 2nd Claptrap Mission (of 5 total).
Find Claptrap’s chassis
The chassis is just 100 meters south. In the search area kill the rippers and check the flower pots on the left side. The rippers turned Claptrap’s body into a flower pot.
Prune weeds from frame
Melee attack the flowers on the chassis. It will be marked red. An angry rippers will come in response to your vandalism!
Kill Redthumb
Defeat the enemy that appears. He has much more health than regular enemies, but he relies on melee attacks so is easy to evade by keeping distance from him.
Take Claptrap’s chassis
Now you can pick up the chassis where you destroyed the flowers.
Place chassis
Bring the chassis back to the quest start and place it in the garage next to the dumpster.
Pick up eye / Place Eye
Pick up Claptrap’s eye from the dumpster and insert it in the chassis in the garage.
Go to old scrapper’s house
This is 300 meters to the west, follow the waypoint.
Knock on door
Melee attack the front door, outlined in red. Nobody will answer the door, so we’ll just take Claptrap’s antenna.
Take antenna
Claptrap’s old neighbors used his antenna as a TV receiver and attached it to their tower. It’s on top of the tall tower near the house. Press 
(‘Z’ on PC) to mark the climbable spots in green and have the location line guide you up there. You must go up 2 ladders and 5 grappling points.
Find Claptrap’s arms
Just 100 meters west, defeat the Psychos in the yard behind the house. Enter the house and take the arms from the bucket in front of the TV. The psychos used them as TV channel prodders.
Take TV channel prodder
Take claptraps other arm from the TV table.
Find Claptrap’s wheel
The wheels are another 150 meters west. Enter the search area at the beach village. The wheels are in the south of the search area, on top the wooden pier by the water. A ripper is using them as a treadmill. Take the wheels from under his feet. He will turn hostile, optionally you can defeat him (he’s a badass), but can also ignore him.
Return to Claptrap
Go back to the quest start and interact with Claptrap in the garage.
Perform diagnostic high five
Melee Claptrap’s hand. Totally for diagnostic purposes, of course.
Place wheel
And lastly, place the wheel on Clappy.
Follow Claptrap
A happy Claptrap will drive off, follow him. The ripper ‘friends’ who disassembled him are waiting outside.
Kill Lootin’ Luke and his gang
Clappy suggests spooning him to death but the rippers ain’t in the mood. Let your weapons do the talking. After all enemies are defeated, Claptrap will talk to you again.
Follow Claptrap / Talk to Claptrap
Follow Claptrap to the end of the area and talk again. Claptrap will show you his “junk” and invites you to “grab” it. This finishes the mission.
This finishes Sum of His Parts side mission in Borderlands 4.
