Borderlands 4 No-Escape Room Side Mission Walkthrough

No-Escape Room is a side mission in Borderlands 4 (BL4). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the No-Escape Room Side Quest.

• Starting Location: Dominion > Terminus District
• Quest Giver: Smiley Man
• Unlock Requirement: Finished Main Mission 17: The Falling Wall
• Reward: XP, Money, SMG (Green or Purple), Cosmetic: Vehicle Paintjob (Eternal Defender)
• Quest Description: Are you ready for the ultimate challenge? Step into a world of mystery, puzzles, and unexpected thrills at the No-Escape Room!

Starting Location: No-Escape Room

This quest icon gets marked on the map when unfogging the area near it, and will also be displayed on the compass at the top of the screen from afar. After unfogging it, place a waypoint on it to be guided to the starting location in the north of Dominion’s Terminus District. It leads into a tunnel where you find a purple-lit poster, press the button below it to start the quest.

Listen to instructions

As soon as you accept the quest, the floor below you opens and you are dropped down into the escape room. The quest giver stands across the escape room and rambles on for a bit.

Open correct door

The correct door is the yellow one on the right because it doesn’t have bloodstains in front of it. Go through, use the grappling point to jump into the next room.

Take key

Grab the key on the right of the room.

Open chests in correct order

The clues are on wooden boards around the room. These will show one blue/purple symbol that matches one of the chests, and the other 4 symbols show red skulls. The one that’s not the skull is safe to open.

Here’s the solution:

1. 2nd chest from the left – flower icon (clue on the board where you pick up key)
2. 5th chest from the left – bird beak icon (clue on the board on the far left upstairs in front of the lava waterfall)
3. 4th chest from the left – horned monster icon (clue on the board in the right corner of the room near a small purple lantern)
4. 1st chest from the left – triangle icon (clue inside the air duct on the right side upstairs, pull the grate cover to see it)
5. 3rd chest from left – eye icon (clue on board on the left side in the lava in the hole in the floor)

Unlock door

Open the door upstairs to enter the next room which requires navigating through some traps.

Traverse maze

All ways lead to a burning jetstream on the floor. When you reach it you must dash through its right side where there’s no fire.

Full maze path from the start:

1. Drop through the hole in the floor.
2. Take the right path (there’s an optional ECHO log on this path too)
3. Keep going until you reach a destructible wall. Destroy it, then go right, through another destructible wall, then turn right to see a burning jetstream from the ground.
4. You must dash through this jetstream.
5. Follow the path behind it to reach the exit.

Escape room

When you reach the exit, the floor will open and you drop down.

Power down force field

Our host is in a murderous mood and fills the room with poison gas. Pull the grate on the top right and shoot the power source behind it to disable the force field.

Contront Smiley Man

Approach Smiley Man, walk near him until your vault hunter talks to him automatically. He wants to walk you outside, but accidentally cooks himself in his oven trap. Oopsie!

Make your escape

With our host having committed unintentional suicide, we are free to leave. Go through the left door and press the elevator button, then jump out the hole in the wall. The quest ends here.
