Father of the Glide is a side mission in Borderlands 4 (BL4). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Father of the Glide Side Quest.
- Starting Location: Terminus Range > Stoneblood Forest
- Quest Giver: Claptrap
- Unlock Requirement: After Main Mission 4: A Lot to Process
- Reward: XP, Cash, Pistol (Green to Purple rarity), Eridium
- Quest Description: Success guru, aspirational robot idol, universally beloved mentor… Claptrap has been called none of these things. Yet here he is trying to take money for success lessons. All it takes to pass his course is completing three aerial challenges, so you might as well humor him.

Starting Location: Father of the Glide
This mission starts in the north of Stoneblood Forest region. It gets marked on the map when unfogging the area.
Talk to Claptrap
This portion will autocomplete itself.
Jump, climb, glide
Head over to the green holographic claptrap ahead. Jump up and glide to that platform.
Get up here!
Look to the west and glide to that rock formation and climb the metal grate.
Take glide of faith
Look to the south to find the next platform. Glide over to it.
Get back over here
Glide back to the platform just south of the one you came from.
Go to challenge 1 start
Head to the platform Claptrap reveals by lifting up the cover.
Glide and climb
Glide across toward the platform and land on the metal grate on the side of the platform. Climb your way up.
Get way up there
Glide over to the ledge to the left. Locate the yellow markings on the rocks and climb up to the metal beam above you. Run across the beam and glide over to the metal grate ahead and climb up.
Hope you like heights…
Jump straight ahead over Claptrap and grab the metal grating and climb your way to the top again.
Complete challenge 1
Glide straight ahead to where Claptrap is to complete his first challenge.
Down here
Look off the platform to the southeast. Drop down and land on that platform.
Go to challenge 2 start
Hop up onto the platform that claptrap takes the top off.
Step lightly
On the north side of the platform step off and into the airstream and glide your way straight to the platform with the giant glowing Claptrap.
Slide and glide
Head into the slide to the west where it says watch your step and be ready to glide to the platform ahead. Grab the grate and climb up.
You know what to do
Go down the slide and glide over Claptrap to the platform on the other side.
Get up there
Slide down the three consecutive slides and jump into the airstream ahead to land on the platform with the giant green Claptrap ahead. Use the grate to help if you don’t have enough momentum.
Over here!
Look to the north and glide to the rock formation ahead.
Way up here!
Use the airstream to jump to the platform with the giant Claptrap on it.
Down you go
Head into the slide ahead and you will start going down the slide.
Don’t fall…
While sliding down don’t fall off the edge, slide from one to the next and into the airstream at the bottom. Grab the grate ahead and climb up to the next platform
Complete challenge 2
Look to the south and you will see an airstream. Glide over to it to boost upward and have enough air time to get to the platform ahead. Grapple to the platform if needed.
Time to fly
Hop on Claptrap’s thruster and go for a ride.
Glide to challenge 3 start
On the platform Claptrap dropped you off at, there will be an airstream ahead once he unveils the final challenge start under the cover ahead. Use it to fly over to the platform to start challenge 3.
Ride the air
Use the airstream to the north to fly up and land on the platform with the giant green claptrap hologram.
Up and over!
Use the airstream ahead to jump over the obstacle that Claptrap closed up ahead of you. Land on the platform on the other side.
Climb up
Climb up the rocks to the left to reach the top of the platform.
Down and under
This time drop down and glide under the obstacle catching air from the airstream, bringing you high enough to reach the platform ahead.
Around the bend
This time you are going to need to glide up and use the three airstreams ahead to make it to the platform ahead to the right. You only really need the first two but as long as you make it to the platform it doesn’t matter which you use or don’t use.
Race Claptrap to finish line
This isn’t a race you are going to win but glide ahead toward the platform to the far east. Make sure to hit an airstream to make sure you will make it all the way.
