Price of Freedom is a side mission in Borderlands 4 (BL4). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Price of Freedom Side Quest.
- Starting Location: Dominion > Carcadia District
- Quest Giver: Joe
- Unlock Requirement: Unlocks during Main Mission 17: The Falling Wall, as soon as reaching Dominion region it gets marked automatically
- Reward: XP, Money, Shotgun (Green or Purple rarity)
- Quest Description: Help? Don’t mind if you do! This sweet grandpa isn’t the only one under attack, though. His wife will need your help, too.
Objectives:
- Rescue Sue
- Defeat Order forces
- Rescue Sue
- Talk to Joe
- Retrieve packages (x3)
- Regroup with Joe and Sue
- Reach Double Tap
- Defeat Commander Rufford’s forces
- Continue to Double Tap
- Defeat Commander Rufford and troops
- Enter Double Tap
- Wait for Joe and Sue
Starting Location: Price of Freedom
This quest can be done anytime after reaching Dominion region in the story. Unfog the map near it to reveal the quest marker on the map. Then place a custom waypoint on it for the location line to guide you to it. It’s in the area above the yellow acidic water, must go through a metal gate. Inside you find 3 soldiers guarding a prison cell. Kill them, the quest giver is behind the red forcefield in the cell. Press the green button on the left side of the cell to remove the forcefield, then talk to the man.
Rescue Sue
Joe sends you to help his wife Sue, she is 200 meters further south. Follow the golden location line. When you reach the area, there will be waves of Order enemies spawning.
Defeat Order forces
Kill all of the Order enemies.
Rescue Sue
Go through the gate at the very end of the area where you fought the Order. You must interact with the gate to open it. Sue is right behind the gate. Joe will come to meet her.
Talk to Joe
Interact with Joe. He reveals him and his wife started an Ordonite smuggling ring. He wants your help to find 3 of his smuggled packages.
Retrieve packages (x3)
These will be scattered across 3 search areas. Follow the golden location line from one area to the next.
Package #1 – In the south of the search circle, in the bottom of the area pull the grate to reveal a little room with the package. It will be highlighted green when you scan.
Package #2 – In the red tunnel in the east of the search area.
Package #3 – Up on a building. At the south-west edge of the search area jump off the ramp to the platform, then over to the left building where you can climb a ladder. Glide over to another building on the right to find the package.
Regroup with Joe and Sue
They will stand right outside the area with the third package. Give Joe the packages.
Reach Double Tap
Go through the gate with Joe and Sue. Then more Order enemies attack.
Defeat Commander Rufford’s forces
Defeat the enemies.
Continue to Double Tap
Advance to the waypoint at the neon-lit “Double Tap” building. When you approach the entrance, Rufford himself will come to fight you.
Defeat Commander Rufford and troops
Kill everyone. Rufford is one of the human enemies.
Enter Double Tap
Enter the neon-lit building, for real this time.
Wait for Joe and Sue
Go to the door, Joe and Sue should already be there or appear shortly after. Listen to them talk to Vito at the door. After some chatting, the mission will complete. Vito, the guy at the door, will offer the follow-up quest Price of Freedom Pt. 2.
This finishes Price of Freedom side mission in Borderlands 4 and unlocks the next mission Price of Freedom Pt. 2.
