No Place Like Home is a side mission in Borderlands 4 (BL4). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the No Place Like Home Side Quest.
- Starting Location: The Fadefields > Hungering Plain
- Quest Giver: Claptrap
- Unlock Requirement: Unlocks during Mission 3: Down and Outbound
- Reward: XP, Money, Pistol (Green to Purple rarity), Vault Hunter Style (Crimson Takeover), ECHO-4 Paintjob (Crimson Takeover), Eridium
- Quest Description: Look, change is scary. Especially when that change involves crash-landing in the middle of a violent dictatorship. Your best friend Claptrap could really use a therapist, but it doesn’t look like there are any of those nearby, so you’ll have to do.

Starting Location: No Place Like Home
A sad Claptrap can be found sitting by a lake in the south-west of Hungering Plain region, talk to him. This is the start of the Claptrap Questline (5 quests) for the Widely Beloved Mascot trophy/achievement.
Find portrait / Reach Order base
Follow the mission marker to the Flarewell base to the east. The “Find portrait” objective is the overarching endgoal of the mission and will autocomplete later, so don’t worry about that for now.
Terminate Jerk
Once you enter the base The Order will start attacking you. Head to the north-east of the base and locate the enemy ‘Big Orange Hothead’. Defeat him and he will drop a keycard (blue item).
Take keycard
Pick up the dropped keycard.
Reach depot
Head to the south-east of the base, when you get close enough to the depot it will want you to find the entrance.
Find entrance to depot
Flip the green switch. However, the switch is broken and doesn’t open the door, so you need to find another way in.
In the room with the switch, jump through the destroyed wall, then straight ahead of you will be the remote switch panel. Interact with the button and pull the lever. This is in the south-west of the yellow search area on the map.
Find portrait
Next to the console, head through the opened container door and drop down the hole. Continue through until you get to the Moxxi shrine room. On the table is a ‘Tasteful Portrait’ for you to take.
Retrieve VR-ON1CA’s processor/Find VR-ON1CA’s processor
Head through the newly opened door and take out the enemies on the other side. Head outside towards the south and use the grappling point on the side of the central building. From its roof you can look through the window to see the processor. However, it’s protected by a thick wall.
Find way inside bunker
You will be attacked by The Order again. Interact with the switch panel next to the laser cannon.
Position solar panels
The laser cannon will point to a broken panel that can’t be moved. You must move two other panels near it to redirect the red laser beam. The first panel is to the left of the broken one the cannon points at. There are two switches on it that let you turn the panel left/right. Turn it so it faces slightly right and back, then it the beam will hit another panel further back (south). Go to that panel and move it too until the laser opens the bunker. So in total there are two solar panels you need to interact with.
Return to bunker
Head back up and defeat the Badass enemy that comes out of the bunker.
Retrieve VR-ON1CA’s processor
Head over to the crate with the processor on it.
Take VR-ON1CA’s voice module
Pick up the damaged voice module.
Find Crimson Resistance asset / Ascend tower
Head deeper into the bunker and climb out using the climbable wall to the left. Climb the solar panels and work your way up the tower on the outside. Once you make it to the top you will see a porter potty.
Open door
Open the door to the porter potty.
Take Rustknuckle’s mask
Grab the ‘Weird Smelling Mask’ off the psycho in the porter potty.
Return to Claptrap
Head back to Claptrap who is waiting where you accepted this mission earlier. Once you get near Claptrap the dialogue will start.
Place items in raft / Take and place explosives
Grab the explosives off the table next to where Claptrap was when you approached. Follow Claptrap to the water. You will see a boat with 5 green highlighted spots. Place the explosives and the three items you just collected in their outlined spots.
Rid past with a bang
Claptrap will push the boat onto the water. Once the boat has drifted away far enough, he will ask you to shoot the explosives on the boat. Do so to complete this mission.
This finishes No Place Like Home side mission in Borderlands 4 and unlocks Sum of His Parts.

level 17 and finding it boring and repetitive, the topography is so hard to get around. I loved the other Borderlands game but changing the platform was a huge mistake. its like everything else these days other people figure they know what’s best for you
