Borderlands 4 Hangover Helper Side Mission Walkthrough

Hangover Helper is a side mission in Borderlands 4 (BL4). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Hangover Helper Side Quest.

• Starting Location: The Fadefields > Coastal Bonescape
• Quest Giver: Iris
• Unlock Requirement: After completing Mission 2: Recruitment Drive
• Reward: Exp, Cash, Pistol (Green or Purple Rarity), Vehicle Paint Job (Soused), Weapon Skin (Soused)
• Quest Description: For Moonshiners, it’s essential to find the right balance of alcohol. Enough to put the shine in your belly, but not enough to stop you from drinking and buying more! Ole Shammy get it juuuust right.

Objectives:

1. Talk to Ole Shammy
2. Travel to cliffs
3. Gather fruit + Kill kratch (Optional) + Kill Badass kratch (Optional)
4. Return to Ole Shammy
5. Place fruit in stomping tub
6. Remove seeds from fruit
7. Find geyser
8. Grab red geyser nugget
9. Place red geyser nugget in fruit
10. Gather mangler scent glands
11. Return to Ole Shammy
12. Place scent glands in fruit
13. De-spike beer supply
14. Gather partygoers
15. Shoot keg’s spout
16. Kill rippers

Starting Location: Hangover Helper

This side mission starts in the game’s first region “Coastal Bonescape”. The mission marker will appear when unfogging the area. Talk to the man in the building.

Talk to Ole Shammy

Head over to the marker on your map where you will find Shammy’s Shack. Shammy will be in the building behind the counter. Walk up to him and speak to him and he will ask you to help gather materials for him.

Travel to cliffs

Head to the cliffs where Shammy sends you to gather 4 pieces of fruit. The fruit grow higher up on the cliffs and the local wildlife won’t be happy about you taking it. Head up top where the fruits are growing. The location line will guide you to it (hold / “Z” on PC). Use the grappling points on the cliffside to get up there.

Gather fruit + Kill kratch (Optional) + Kill Badass kratch (Optional)

Once up top you will be told the fruit are there and you will be attacked by the kratch (flying enemies). Defeat 10 of them before going for any fruit to complete the optional objective for better rewards. Once you have defeated at least 10 head to the four Side Mission markers and collect the four pieces of fruit. To collect the fruit you will need to grapple them. There will also be a Badass Kratch flying around the area, take it out too for better rewards.

There are two on the left cliff (west marker), both growing high up on the rocks around the side:

The other 2 are on the right cliff (east marker), one grows on the side of the rocks and one on the middle rock:

Return to Ole Shammy

Return to Shammy and speak to him who will tell you he just needs the skin of the fruit. He wants you to stick it in the stomping tub next to him.

Place fruit in stomping tub

Climb up the stomping tub and place the fruit in the highlighted area inside.

Remove seeds from fruit

Look above Shammy on his building and you will see a grapple spot. Grapple up, jump down and do a ground slam onto the fruit. You do a ground slam by pressing: hold (PS5) / hold (Xbox) / Space, Space, hold CTRL (PC).

Find geyser

Next head to the new Side Mission Marker to the East and locate the petrified geyser.

Unclog Geyser

Shammy will tell you he wants you to open up the geyser. Climb onto the building right next to the geyser and jump off and slam on the ground like before.

Grab red geyser nugget

Nuggets will go flying out of the geyser. Some of these nuggets are red while most are grey, you will need to use your grapple to grab a red one. The grey ones won’t advance the objective.

Place red geyser nugget in fruit

Once you have grabbed a red one, head back to Shammy and place it into the fruit skin you opened earlier.

Gather mangler scent glands

There will be two markers on the map, it doesn’t matter to which marker you go, you only need to visit one. Defeat enough Manglers to get the quest items, then return to Shammy.

Return to Ole Shammy

Once back at Shammy he will tell you he needs to combine the ingredients.

Place scent glands in fruit

Climb back up the stomping tub and place the glands in with the fruit and red nugget.

De-spike beer supply

Pick up the fruit and head to the town with the geyser where everyone is drunk and partying. Jump up to the beer keg on the wooden structure and place the fruit on the green outline above the keg.

Gather partygoers

Head back down to the quest marker and use the microphone on the stage.

Shoot keg’s spout

Once Shammy gives you the go-ahead, shoot the keg’s spout that turns red.

Kill rippers

This sobers up the ripper and now they are mad. Kill them all and break the news to Shammy. Once all enemies have been defeated this quest will end.
