Hearing Things is the 2nd main mission in Borderlands 4 DLC #1: Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Hearing Things Main Quest.
- DLC required: Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned
- Starting Location: Kairos > The Whispering Glacier > Crooked Teeth
- Quest Giver: Mancubus
- Unlock Requirement: having finished Main Quest 1: On Icebound Shores Abandoned
- Reward: Money, XP, Assault Rifle (Green or Blue rarity), Cosmetic: Vehicle Skin
- Quest Description: Though the Speakeasy’s hearth is warm and safe, you must venture back out onto the glacier. Ellie was last seen heading towards a Scav encampment. She is driven towards an ancient megalith by forces unknown.

- Find Ellie & Kill the scavas
- Find Ellie & Open Workshop
- Find Ellie & workstation
- Find Ellie & Follow trail
- Kill the Lost Legion
- Follow Ellie
- Return to the Speakeasy

- Find shuggurath factory
- Find a way to open factory
- Enter factory
- Clear the factory of scavs
- Extract shuggur
- Taste the shuggur
- Free shuggurath
- Free healthy shuggurath
- Find the shuggurath hatchery
- Clear all the scavs
- Enter the hatchery
- Disable bubble cage x2
- Return to the blockade
- Find shuggurath
- Collect shuggurath egg
- Throw shuggurath egg at scab
- Rip it off with your grapple
- Enter the Bloodstained Hollows
- Kill Corporal Brennan
- Head to the Bloodstained Hollows
Starting Location: Hearing Things
Find Ellie & Search scav camp
Just follow the quest marker to the camp.
Find Ellie & Kill the scavas
Inside the camp, kill all waves of enemies.
Find Ellie & Open Workshop
After killing the enemies, head towards the workshop, which opens automatically. Kill the enemy that comes out of it.
Find Ellie & workstation
Enter the workshop and check the station on the right side.
Find Ellie & Follow trail
Now follow the marker to the Lunar station nearby.
Kill the Lost Legion
At the station, just kill all enemies.
Follow Ellie
Ellie appears, follow her to a portal.
Return to the Speakeasy
Go through the open portal in front of you.
Listen to the conversation
After going through the portal, just wait and listen to the conversation that will last about a minute.
Exit the Speakeasy
After the conversation, leave the Speakeasy through the marked portal.
Find shuggurath factory
Now follow the marker to the factory. Once you arrive, kill the enemies here.
Find a way to open factory
To open the factory, you have to shoot two containers. Those are near the entrance and also marked once you go near them.
Enter factory
The entrance is below the second container you have to shoot.
Clear the factory of scavs
Inside the factory, you have to kill some waves of enemies.
Extract shuggur
To extract it, look above you in the middle of the room. You have to use your grappling hook to extract it.
Taste the shuggur
Now interact with the machine below the shuggue you extracted.
Free shuggurath
Look above you and use your grappling hook again to free shuggurath.
Free healthy shuggurath
Just shoot the container nearby to free the healthy shuggurath.
Find the shuggurath hatchery
Now follow the quest marker to the hatchery southside of the map.
Clear all the scavs
At the hatchery, just kill all enemies.
Enter the hatchery
After killing the enemies, enter the hatchery.
Disable bubble cage x2
To disable the bubble cage, use your grappling hook on them.
Return to the blockade
Now head back to the Lunar station where you met Ellie earlier.
Find shuggurath
The shuggurath is above you, near the entrance.
Collect shuggurath egg
Collect the egg with your grappling hook.
Throw shuggurath egg at scab
Now throw the egg at the blocked entrance.
Rip it off with your grapple
Then use your grappling hook to open the entrance. You will use this technique multiple times throughout the DLC.
Enter the Bloodstained Hollows
Now just enter the building you just opened.
Kill Corporal Brennan
You will find Corporal Brennan, you have to kill him.
Head to the Bloodstained Hollows
After killing Brennan, just leave the building.
This finishes Hearing Things in Borderlands 4.
