Starting Location: Below the Surface
This quest icon gets marked on the map when unfogging the area near it, and will also be displayed on the compass at the top of the screen from afar. After unfogging it, place a waypoint on it to be guided to the starting location in the north of Dominion’s Terminus District. There you can talk to a man who stands in a tunnel.
Take key card
After some talking, the man offers you a keycard, take it.
Use key card to access lab / Enter lab
Go to the quest marker and use the key card on the door, then head inside.
Use elevator / Reach facility’s sub-level access
Step on the elevator in the middle of the first room. The elevator doesn’t work, you need to pull out the vent cover on the wall to the left of where you entered the room.
Go through the air duct behind the vent cover and follow the corridor.
Jump down
At the end of the corridor you must drop down.
Reach labs / Listen to log (optional)
Follow the linear path through the lab until you climb out of the water. As soon as you land in the room above the water, there will be an ECHO log in front of you on the table. Pick it up, this is the 1st of 5 ECHO logs here, they count towards an optional mission objective.
Now proceed through the next corridor and go through the wall opening, in the next room is a locked door with a blue quest marker on it. In the room to the right of it, pull open the vent cover on the wall to find the 2nd of 5 ECHO logs.
Now interact with the gate that has the quest marker, you must get very close to it to see the interaction prompt to open it.
As soon as you go through the gate, check the left corner to find the 3rd ECHO log in the broken window.
Now proceed through the labs until you can use a grapple point to jump into the main lab where the objective updates.
Clear creep infestation
Defeat all of the insect enemies in the main lab.
Reactivate elevator
In the same room where you cleared out the enemies, use the console upstairs on the right side.
Wait for Ted
Head back to the start of the room. More insect enemies will appear.
Kill Vile experiments
Defeat all the enemies in the room. Two of them are “vile” variants, which means they have purple crystals that protect them from damage. You must destroy the purple crystals first, then quickly shoot the little purple orbs flying around them, so that the crystals can’t grow back. Then you can kill the enemy and it won’t gain back the protective crystals.
Talk to Ted
Ted will enter the room, talk to him. He will then step into the purple machine in the middle of the room and turns into a monster.
Kill CorrupTed
Defeat Ted’s corrupted form. He will drop the 4th ECHO log, pick it up.
Reach elevator
Exit the room through the gate behind the purple machine that Ted used. Go through the next corridor, in the room where you see the elevator switch, the 5th ECHO log is on the right side at the start of the room, on the floor next to a corpse. This fulfills the optional objective.
Afterward press the elevator switch.
Leave facility
Exit the building and the mission will complete.
