On Icebound Shores Abandoned is the 1st main mission in Borderlands 4 DLC #1: Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the On Icebound Shores Abandoned Main Quest.
- DLC required: Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned
- Starting Location: Kairos > Dissected Plateau > Zadra’s Backup Plan
- Quest Giver: Moxxie
- Unlock Requirement: have finished Main Quest 4: A Lot of Process from the Main Game
- Reward: Money, XP, Assault Rifle (Green or Blue rarity), Cosmetic: Vehicle Skin
- Quest Description: You have been sent… or perhaps summoned… to a far glacier in the north of Kairos in search of Moxxi’s daughter, Ellie. Search for clues, but don’t fall through the cracks.

- Free prisoner
- Meet Pickle

- Open the scape pod
- Protect Pickle

Starting Location: On Icebound Shores Abandoned
Search for Ellie
Follow the quest marker to the camp.
Clear the camp
When you enter the camp, just kill all enemies.
Kill Scav leader
After killing the enemies, the leader will appear. You have to kill him.
Free prisoner
Once you have defeated the leader, head inside the building and interact with the cell.
Meet Pickle
Pickles will head outside, meet him there.
Follow Pickle
Pickles will head towards a pod, follow him.
Open the scape pod
When you reach the pod, open it with your grappling hook.
Protect Pickle
When you open the pod, an enemy will come out. Just kill it.
Investigate the pod
Head inside the empty pod.
Follow Pickle to escape pod
Since the pod is empty, follow him to another pod.
Kill the scavs
When you arrive at the next pod. Kill all enemies.
Open escape pod
After killing the enemies, interact with the pod.
Talk to Crazy Earl
Interact with the pod once more to talk to Earl.
Follow Pickle to escape pod
Follow Pickle to the last escape pod.
Open escape pod
Open the pod with your grappling hook.
Scan pod
Head inside the pod and interact with the device.
Talk to Pickle
After scanning the pod, head outside and talk to Pickle.
Defend yourself
Just defeat the enemies that attack Pickle’s and you.
Help Pickle
After killing the enemies, revive Pickle’s.
You will get teleported to a new area that you need to escape. The path here is very linear. At the end you will get teleported back.
Check on Pickle
After that nightmare section, interact with Pickle’s near you.
Explore the glacier
Now follow the marker to a lake nearby.
Clear the lake
At the lake, kill all enemies.
Investigate the pieces
After killing all enemies, interact with the pieces that are floating in the air.
Enter the doorway
A door will appear, enter it.
Find out where you are
Move towards the bar and a short cutscene starts.
Talk to Mancubus
After the cutscene, talk to the barkeeper.
Find Pickle’s room / Optional Objective: Ask others about Ellie
After talking to the barkeeper, you can turn left and head upstairs to the main objective.
However, if you want to complete the optional objective, talk to the two people near the bar.
Then you go upstairs above the bar, here you find the third person to talk to.
Search Pickle’s room
When you are in Pickle’s room, interact with the lockers in the corner.
Take Ellie’s log
Take the log out of the locker.
Talk to Mancubus
Turn around and talk to Mancubus.
Find exit to Crooked Teeth
Take the exit next to Mancubus.
This finishes On Icebound Shores Abandoned in Borderlands 4.
